Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the VerseLingo app, website, content, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By downloading, purchasing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to use the Service without parental consent. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms for you. A parent or guardian who allows a minor to use VerseLingo is responsible for supervising that use.
2. The Service and educational scope
VerseLingo is an educational app that helps learners study English through Bible verses, with lessons, vocabulary, listening, pronunciation, review, and related learning features. Features, lesson order, content availability, and free or Premium access may change as the Service develops.
VerseLingo is a language-learning tool. Its lessons, reflections, reminders, and other content are provided for general educational and inspirational purposes and are not professional, medical, mental-health, legal, pastoral, or theological advice. We do not promise any particular learning, spiritual, or personal outcome.
3. App Store license and Apple terms
The app is licensed, not sold. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to use VerseLingo on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store usage rules and Family Sharing where available.
Your use of the App Store version is also subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement and applicable Apple Media Services terms. Apple processes App Store distribution and payment but is not responsible for operating or supporting VerseLingo. If these Terms conflict with mandatory App Store terms or applicable law, those mandatory terms or laws prevail.
4. Premium, subscriptions, trials, and purchases
- Some parts of VerseLingo are free. Premium features may be offered through auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscriptions and, where available, a one-time lifetime purchase.
- The exact product, price, currency, billing period, trial, and eligibility shown in the app and on the App Store purchase screen at confirmation are the terms that apply to your purchase.
- Payment is charged by Apple to your Apple Account. Auto-renewing subscriptions continue until cancelled and may be charged within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- If an eligible free or discounted trial is shown, it begins when confirmed and converts to the displayed paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial or offer period ends. Eligibility is determined by Apple and may be limited to one introductory offer per subscription group.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account. Deleting VerseLingo does not cancel an active subscription.
- Refund eligibility and processing are controlled by Apple and applicable consumer law. We cannot issue App Store refunds directly.
- A "lifetime" purchase means Premium access for as long as the VerseLingo product is made available and supported under that purchase. It does not guarantee that every feature, item of content, or the Service itself will remain available forever.
- Apple may handle taxes, price-change notices, and any consent required for a subscription price increase. Your mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
5. No VerseLingo account; device and iCloud data
VerseLingo does not require a VerseLingo account. Learning progress and preferences are stored on your device and may sync through the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account. iCloud availability, synchronization, backup, and account access are provided by Apple and may be affected by your device, connection, storage, or Apple settings.
You are responsible for maintaining access to your Apple Account and devices. We cannot recover your Apple Account credentials or directly retrieve records from your private CloudKit database. The in-app Reset Learning Progress function removes the progress categories described in the app across synced devices while retaining certain profile, language, reminder, onboarding, and Premium preferences.
6. Service availability, updates, and changes
We may add, revise, replace, suspend, or remove features, lessons, audio, or other content; release required updates; correct errors; or perform maintenance. Some content and features require an internet connection, compatible device, supported operating system, iCloud, or third-party services.
We do not guarantee that the Service, any particular feature, or remote content will always be available. Where reasonably possible, we will avoid materially reducing active paid access without notice or an appropriate remedy required by applicable law or App Store policy.
7. Scripture, translations, and third-party materials
English Scripture quotations are from the World English Bible (WEB), which is in the public domain. Other translations, fonts, libraries, and third-party materials remain subject to their respective ownership and license terms. Attribution and license information is available in the app under About VerseLingo.
Although we review lesson and reference information, transcription, translation, timing, pronunciation, or other content errors may occur. You may report a suspected error through our Support page.
8. Intellectual property
Except for public-domain and third-party material, the Service—including its software, visual design, lesson structure, original teaching materials, recordings, graphics, and arrangement—is owned by us or our licensors and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You may use the Service only for personal, non-commercial learning. You may not copy, reproduce, publish, sell, sublicense, redistribute, scrape, systematically extract, create derivative products from, or commercially exploit the Service or its content, except where applicable law or an identified license expressly permits it.
9. Acceptable use
You must not:
- access or test the Service through unauthorized means, bypass access controls, or interfere with security or operation;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code except to the limited extent the law expressly allows;
- use automated tools to extract content at scale or place unreasonable load on the Service;
- upload or transmit malicious code, impersonate another person, or use the Service fraudulently; or
- use the Service in a way that violates applicable law or another person's rights.
10. Feedback and support communications
If you send suggestions, corrections, or other feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or compensation to improve the Service, provided we handle any personal information according to our Privacy Policy. Do not send passwords, complete payment-card details, or information you do not want included in a support message.
11. Third-party services and links
The Service relies on or links to services operated by others, including Apple, iCloud, RevenueCat, PostHog, Cloudflare, and email providers. Their availability and practices are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control, but this does not limit responsibilities that applicable law places on us.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," with no express or implied warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, completely accurate, secure, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential loss arising from use of or inability to use the Service, including loss caused by device failure, unavailable third-party services, or interrupted synchronization.
Our total liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid for VerseLingo during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the mandatory law of your place of residence.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using VerseLingo at any time. Your license ends if you materially breach these Terms. We may restrict or end access where reasonably necessary to protect the Service, comply with law, address fraud or misuse, or discontinue the Service. Ending use or deleting the app does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription or create a refund right.
15. Governing terms and general provisions
The governing-law and forum provisions in Apple's Standard EULA apply to the App Store license. Mandatory consumer protections and rights to use a court or dispute process in your place of residence remain unaffected.
If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and mandatory App Store terms form the agreement governing your use of the Service. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms except where law permits; we may transfer our rights and obligations as part of a reorganization or transfer of the Service, subject to applicable law.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, or business practices. We will post the updated version and effective date here. Material changes will also be communicated through a reasonable channel, such as app release notes or an in-app notice, when appropriate. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you should stop using the Service before they take effect.
